B.A.D.

or as he is more commonly known Blake Anthony Diehl. Awesome initials right? I am heading back to PA in 5 weeks-ugh. I am trying to control myself. I am excited and petrified because I will be flying with both kids...and no Ian! Yeah, it could go badly, very very badly. Luckily, I have the motivation of meeting my very first nephew to carry my through. Here are some new pics of the little munchkin and he is getting cuter every day!!!

Auntie Kim

As of about 17 minutes ago I am officially an aunt! Kasandra has spent the past twelve hours in labor and eventually ended up with a c-section, but everyone is doing well.

I have been crying all day because I am 2,000 miles away. It completely sucks. I have been the one on the other end, now I know what it feels like to miss out on something so big. I am not happy about it. Me and the kids have tickets booked for May 5 to meet our new little man, but how am I supposed to wait that long? Ok, I need to stop before I start crying again....

Dancing Queen

Well folks, we officially entered a new phase of parenthood when we attended Holden's first dance recital. She is in Minnie Mouse Dance through our rec center. And the kids pretty much run and jump around like maniacs from 9-9:45 every Tuesday morning. I was dying to see what would actually happen when they were asked to perform for an audience.

The recital was for five different classes ( of about 10 girls each) and about 500 people attended the show at a local community church. When we arrived (35minutes early) there was a line out the door of about 200 people.

Ok, so these people take this seriously. We had to fight for a "good" seat. Holden had a blast running around and jumping off the stage with the big girls while we waited for the show to begin.

When they called her group, she jumped out of Ian's arms and took off, hmm guess now that she is a "big" girl she doesn't need us anymore. Anyway, she was definitely cooperative, smiley, and happy for her big moment. While she danced less than anyone else, she did wave to Ian and remember to bow. So here it is.....

We ended our big night out with a trip to Cold Stone for some pink ice cream. It was so cute and I cannot believe how grown up Miss Holden is!

Snip, Snip

I wore Ian down and he agreed to get Everett's haircut! We both love those rough and tumble little guys with unruly mops of wavy hair. However, at least a this point, Everett's hair is very thin and straight. The long do was not looking so cute.

So off to Cool Cuts for Kids we went. To some it may seem excessive to pay $17.95 for 1 year olds haircut, but those chicks earn their money. I would have hacked off his ear or poked his eye out trying to cut his hair. Let's say Everett was not too keen on the haircut for the first five minutes and was screaming as if we had amputated his leg. Lollipops, Bunny Grahams, juice boxes...nope.

Turn down your speakers for the video....

He was clinging to me from his perch on the fire truck. Until.....

The sweet and amazingly talented hairstylist brought out the bubbles!

It was so much fun and so cute. He looks like a little guy now and he can sport a mohawk if he is so inclined. Holden decided she wanted a haircut too. We all know how her first haircut went, and we are still being patient growing out those damn bangs! So I relented and she climbed into the fire truck and was a perfect angel. Just a little trim and some long layers for our princess, but no bangs!

Our New Basement!

Well, not yet. But our great friend Jeff is our contractor and will begin work on Monday morning.

The previous owners had gotten started on refinishing the basement. There is a complete bedroom and space organized for a storage area, full bathroom, and living area. When we moved in we dumped all of our junk down there and last week finally got rid of some and tried to organize the rest. We unloaded all of the baby stuff on Mike and Courtney (they are going to need it with two boys on the way!!! YAY!!!) and now have an empty space ready to be finished!

Since our main floor is all hardwood, I am really looking forward to a completely carpeted area for the kids to play on. Ev's favorite activity is rolling around so it will be really nice. Our family and friends will definitely enjoy the bathroom when they are using the spare bedroom. Right now they have to go all the way o the second floor for a shower which shares a wall with Everett's bedroom. Not convenient when he is sleeping, which he does for about 14 hours a day.

Anyway, Ian and I went to Lowes yesterday and figured we could pick everything out in an hour. Haaaa. We are idiots sometimes. We did get some of the big stuff picked out and are completely stuck on color ideas for painting. It is so fun and we want to make it cozy and relaxing, because we and our guests will be spending lots of time down there. I have been searching HGTV pics for inspiration ideas. Ian is no help, other than he knows what he hates. It's something I guess.

The "expert" at Lowes assured us that we can take a class to learn how to tile the floor and bath surround in our new bathroom ourselves. We decided it would be a fun project to work on together. However, we are not the best at home improvement and hope it turns out ok.

Here are our "before" pictures.

A Tale of Two Babies

People have begun to ask me, "soooo, how long will she carry that baby around?" "When do kids outgrow 'loveys'?" "Does she take that EVERYWHERE?"

The answers are, forever (I fear), no clue, and yes, everywhere in the entire world that she goes the baby goes. Including school, the bathroom, the dinner table, a pony ride, and the swings to name just a few. We have drawn the line at the tub, however she sits on the counter so she can "watch."

This baby is in poor shape. It is completely pathetic looking. Long ago, my Aunt Karen found an exact replica. I foresaw needing a backup in the event of a lost baby. This was back when original purple baby was new. So we had two perfect babies, but somehow Holden decided one was better than the other and completely rejected "other" purple baby, as she refers to her.

So we currently still have one PERFECT (perfectly useless) purple baby.

And one disgustingly well loved purple baby.

I am wondering, when do I need to try to start weaning her from this comfort object? How do I do it? Because right now, I can't even wrestle that thing out of her arms long enough to wash it.

Tooth Fairy

I know I am a bit ahead of myself, but I found this precious "official" Tooth Fairy kit...from the office of the Tooth Fairy herself! The official certificate keeps record of name, age, tooth lost, method of extraction and compensation information. And it comes with a little tooth bag for keeping the tooth safe and sound under the pillow.

I may have to snag a couple for the future and to have for baby gifts. The are just so cute! If you are interested in grabbing one for your favorite munchkin, here is the link!
